Running Readers Reading Enhancement Program

To utilize the Running Readers program to provide students with the skills, knowledge and encouragement to enhance reading aptitude and attitude so that students are reading at grade level by the completion of third grade and; to facilitate a supportive home environment to encourage parent involvement in reading activities.

Excellence and Justice in Education Academies
Literacy Intervention Project

To hire a reading specialist who can provide training for classroom teachers on language improvement strategies and provide one-to-three and one-to-one language skills training for underperforming students in the school.

International Rescue Committee
TEAM (Teach, Engage, Achieve, and Motivate) Project

To provide an afterschool program at Marshall Elementary for refugee students to improve their academic performance, self-esteem and civic participation; and to encourage parent involvement in their children’s education.

Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties
Empowering Young Leaders – Encouraging Young Lives

To prepare low-income, at-risk students in K through 5 to succeed in the global economy by making the learning “relevant to the real world,” and to expose students to knowledge they may not receive at home.
