Financial Contributions -
We Pool our Resources
The San Diego Women's Foundation members commit to an annual contribution
of $2,000 for a minimum of five years, a total of $10,000.
Each Fiscal Year
:
- 45% of each contribution will go to our endowment to support San Diego's
Communities in perpetuity.
- 45% of each contribution will go to a pooled fund for making grants
to the community.
- 10% of each contribution will go to administrative costs associated
with managing the endowment fund and researching and dispensing funds
to Community Partners.
All contributions to the San Diego Women's Foundation are fully tax-deductible.
Our assets are managed and invested as an advised fund at The San Diego
Foundation.
We Focus our Grantmaking
Each year the Grants Committee selects one focus area:
- Arts/Culture
- Civil Society
- Economic/Employment Development
- Education
- Health and Human Services
- Environment
We Learn about Issues
Members join our foundation with varying levels of familiarity with
philanthropy. The Education Committee
creates programs to inform our members about community issues and opportunities
in our focus area. The Grants Committee develops guidelines, reviews proposals,
conducts on-site evaluations of nonprofit organizations, and continues
ongoing and mutually beneficial relationships with our community partners.
This hands-on process of making grants is educational even for experienced
philanthropists.
We Make a Significant Impact
The power of many women giving together has a huge impact. By pooling
our funds, we are able to respond to community-wide needs with focused
grants of $25,000 or greater.
