San Diego Women’s Foundation Names their First Director
San Diego – January 9, 2007 – The San Diego Women’s Foundation, a seven year old organization dedicated to the philanthropic support of the community, has hired Tracy Johnson as its first full time Director. Johnson’s background in non-profit management along with a proven dedication to helping others made her a natural choice in a field of strong candidates.
“We are so excited about bringing such a wonderful leader into this newly created position,” said SDWF President Alicia Foster. “Up until now, we’ve been managed primarily by member volunteers and a terrific board. Tracy has the skills to help us have an even greater impact on the organizations that we support.”
Johnson brings a strong and honored history of social service to the San Diego Women’s Foundation. Her career began in the mental health field in Lowell, Massachusetts. Since moving to San Diego in 2000, she has worked with the Center for Community Solutions’ as Director of Rape Crisis Services. “Stepping aside from the direct crisis work has taken a great deal of thought for me, but the time is right and I am thrilled to be able to use my front line experience in this position as a guide for the San Diego Women’s Foundation,” said Johnson. “I am energized and excited about working with this group of bright, dedicated and compassionate women who use their resources to make a difference in our San Diego community.”
“Our plan is to continue growing this amazing organization with much needed financial resources and community support,” Foster said. “Tracy takes the reins leading an extraordinary group of women. With our board and members behind her, she will develop our critical operational core.”
